Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite (WiFi)
7.5/10 (Expert Score)Meta-review: Testers seem to agree that the Aorus X570 Elite offers excellent value compared to more scaled-down entry-level alternatives.
Description
Initially, the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite was only launched in a version without an onboard WiFi chip, but since Q4 2019 it is also available with WiFi 802.11ac as an option. Other features of the motherboard should be identical in both versions. In Gigabyte’s lineup of AMD X570-based motherboards, the Aorus Elite is the manufacturer’s entry-level model, with more affordable components and a lesser feature set than the more expensive Aorus Ultra and Pro.
X570 Aorus Elite (WiFi): Key Features
Gigabyte launched a broad range of motherboards based on the X570 chipset in 2019, after AMD announced the platform along with its 3rd-generation Ryzen processors. The X570 platform uses the same AM4 socket as previous generations, so 2rd-gen Ryzen CPUs can also be used with X570 motherboards, while the 3rd-generation Ryzen is compatible with e.g. X470 and B450 motherboards (after a BIOS update).
The main feature that separates the X570 platform from its predecessors (and at launch, all competitors) is the introduction of PCI Express (PCIe) 4.0 on the consumer market. This interface provides twice the bandwidth for PCIe 4-enabled SSDs that are able to utilize it. The X570 Aorus Elite/WiFi has two M.2 slots, both of which offer PCIe 4.0 bandwidth. One matching SSD heatsink is included with the board.
Gigabyte’s Aorus range starts with the Elite/Elite Wifi, followed by the Pro, Ultra, Master, and Xtreme motherboards – all with an increasing number of features and premium components.

Compared to the more expensive Aorus models, the Aorus Elite comes with a less sophisticated VRM, fewer high-speed USB ports, and does not support Nvidia SLI multi-GPU setups. AMD Crossfire is however supported. Some of the more expensive boards also have an additional M.2 slot and 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet.
RAM support is identical in all Aorus X570 motherboards: up to 128 GB (4x 32 GB) of dual-channel DDR4 running at (overclocked) speeds of up to 4400 MHz. The I/O shield is pre-integrated and Gigabyte’s RGB Fusion 2.0 technology is included.
Reviews
It forgoes some of the extras like USB Type-C, Wi-Fi and lots of RGB. But it handled overclocking our Ryzen 7 3700X without a complaint and performed well in our testing.
As long as you can find your RGB salvation somewhere else, you will get the most value for money here if you are looking for an entry-level X570 board.
