Western Digital Corporation or just Western Digital – or even more often just WD – is an American company founded in 1970, primarily known for manufacturing hard drives and more recently SSDs. The company “color-codes” its storage products as Black (high-end/enthusiast), Blue (value), Green (low-power efficient) and Red (NAS). Western Digital is one of the world’s two largest hard drive manufacturers, the other one being Seagate.
