The TRX40 chipset was launched in conjunction with AMD’s 3rd-gen Threadripper processors in late 2019. It is one of three chipsets for the platform, including the TRX40 (this chipset), TRX80 and WRX80. All motherboards based on TRX40 support up to 256 GB of DDR4 DRAM in quad-channel mode. It’s also one of the first platforms to fully support PCI-Express 4.0, which doubles the available bandwidth over the preceding generation.
