The Gigabyte RTX 4090 Windforce 24G is an entry-level variant of 2023’s market-leading RTX 4090 GPU, with the same clocks as the Founder’s Edition reference model. As a result, it comes with the same MSRP.
Note that this card is available in two versions: the original Windforce (GV-N4090WF3-24GD) and the Windforce V2 (GV-N4090WF3V2-24GD). These cards share the same hardware specifications but use completely different coolers.
Although both of the Windforce cards are smaller than some other variants out there, they are still large triple-fan cards. The competition is mainly other air-cooled RTX 4090 models, such as Gigabyte’s own Gaming OC model.

Gigabyte RTX 4090 Windforce v2
Neither of the two Gigabyte RTX 4090 Windforce variants is in the premium space, but they still come with the same RTX 4090. That means a full 16384 CUDA Cores, 512 Tensor Cores, and 128 RT cores, as well as 24GB of GDDR6X memory that runs at 21 Gbps on a 384-bit memory bus.
In both cases, the boost clock speed is the standard 2520 MHz. For video output, you get a single HDMI 2.1 port and three DisplayPort 1.4a ports. This is in line with the Founders Edition reference design, but one HDMI port less than the Asus Strix and TUF variants of the card.
Also like all 4090s, you will need a single 16-pin power connector to power the card (or use the provided 4×8-pin adapter), and Gigabyte recommends using an 850W power supply unit.
Design
In terms of physical dimensions, the newer V2 version of the Windforce card is clearly smaller in all areas but length, which is identical due to the V2 cooler protruding from the PCB. There is also a noticeable difference in the size of the heatsinks.
The Gigabyte RTX 4090 Windforce 24G V1 and V2 are both equipped with three 100mm fans, but the V1 model features 8 composite heat pipes, compared to 9 heat pipes on V2. Another difference is that V1 features a vapor chamber cooler, whereas V2 does not.
Both cards have substantial metal backplates that include cutouts for better heat dissipation and rigidity. There is also a physical BIOS switch on each card that allows you to switch between OC and Silent modes, tweaking the fan curves. Gigabyte also provides anti-sag GPU support in the box.
Other common denominators include discreet black designs and a complete lack of RGB lighting.
