The Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming 24G does not get the Aorus branding, but it is still a high-end graphics card. It is massive, with a sleek design and some RGB effects. Since this is an RTX 4090 – the leading GPU in 2023 – it targets 4K gaming and really only competes with other RTX 4090 variants, such as the ASUS TUF RTX 4090.
Its closest AMD-based competitors in 2023 are RX 7900 XTX models like the Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XTX Pulse or PowerColor Hellhound 7900 XTX, but this GPU more closely competes with the RTX 4080.
Although it is based on a flagship GPU, the RTX 4090 Gaming is not the top-tier variant from Gigabyte (that would be the Aorus model), so it is less expensive than some other options.

Like all the other RTX 4090 variants, Gigabyte’s RTX 4090 Gaming (OC) is based on the new Nvidia Ada Lovelace architecture and features 24 GB of GDDR6X memory that runs at 21 Gbps. There are 16,384 CUDA Cores for rasterization, 512 Tensor Cores for DLSS 3.0 AI image upscaling, and 128 RT Cores for ray tracing.
You will need a single 16-pin power connector to power the graphics card, and Gigabyte recommends a 1000 W power supply unit, as opposed to Nvidia’s original 850 W recommendation. For video output, you get a single HDMI 2.1 port and three DisplayPort 1.4a ports.
The OC version of the card comes with a marginally higher boost clock out of the box, although its 2535 MHz over the reference model’s 2520 MHz is an increase of less than 1%.
Design
The Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming 24G has a triple-fan design and features the Windforce cooler. This comprises a large vapor chamber that directly makes contact with the GPU, along with 10 composite copper heat pipes. The larger form factor means a larger cooler which improves thermals and heat dissipation, allowing you to overclock the graphics card and get better performance out of the box.
The giant graphics card is bigger than the reference design model and also weighs a lot, and Gigabyte has addressed that by including a support bracket. The three fans have RGB lighting around them, which creates a lighting effect, and the Gigabyte logo lights up as well. RGB lighting can be customized using Gigabyte’s software or the software of your motherboard.
Unlike Asus with its metal-shrouded TUF model, Gigabyte has opted for plastic for the fan shroud but not the back plate, which is full-size with cutouts for improved airflow and heat dissipation. Furthermore, it has a BIOS switch that allows you to switch between OC mode and silent mode. This mainly adjusts the fan curve.
