Gigabyte’s premium brand Aorus typically stands for premium designs and the RTX 4090 Xtreme Waterforce is no exception. This is a top-tier AIO (all-in-one) liquid-cooled variant that comes with a 360mm radiator. Since it is liquid-cooled, the card itself is very compact and ideal for compact builds or for those not interested in custom water cooling. Buyers will however still have to consider the large radiator, which will not fit in small cases.
Out of the box, the Aorus RTX 4090 Xtreme Waterforce 24G has a slight overclock of about 2% compared to the reference model, but since it is liquid-cooled, you can likely overclock it further to get better performance. While the rated clock speed is 2565 MHz, liquid-cooled RTX 4090 cards have been known to get close to 3 GHz in-game. The massive 360mm radiator enables silent operation even when the card is under full load.
Since this is an RTX 4090, it features 16384 for rasterization, 512 Tensor Cores for DLSS 3.0 AI image upscaling as well as 128 RT cores for ray tracing. As the name gives away, the card comes with 24 GB of GDDR6X memory that runs at 21 Gbps on a 384-bit memory bus. All RTX 4090 cards feature the same memory clock and there are no variants with factory overclocked VRAM.
For video output, you get a single HDMI 2.1 port and three DP 1.4a ports. The recommended PSU for the card is 1000W, and you will need a single 16-pin power connector to power it. Gigabyte does include a four 8-pin to one 16-pin power adapter in the box, which you can use if you have an older power supply unit.
Design
The Aorus RTX 4090 Xtreme Waterforce 24G has an unobtrusive design, featuring a black color scheme with gold accents. It has matching radiator fans, and the tubing is covered in black sleeves as well.
There is no fan on the GPU shroud, so Gigabyte has gone with a large copper base plate to ensure that the card stays cool even when under full load. It not only covers the GPU but the VRAM as well. The water channel also covers the MOSFET area. 460mm braided tubes carry water between the GPU and the 360mm radiator.
The card has a full metal backplate and minimal RGB lighting. The fans have RGB lighting as well, which can sync with not only the card but the rest of your PC parts as well. The cables for the fans are not integrated into the tubing, so replacing them is possible.
